Food ~ SHELTER IN THE WOODS

Oh yes! shelter in the woods. Serving French food. Have you guys heard of it? Its worth going there for some good food and great ambience's! Located at the west of Singapore. Not really that far though, as there are buses , but you got to make a walk inside. Well it will be great if you are driving though. Went there on Tuesday with mum n my friend for dinner.. All the way from the North of Singapore.. Thank goodness its worth it! Every single moment!

Now let me share about the food and experience I had there.
Service, was so exceptionally awesome, it's been a long time since I have encounter good service in Singapore! Was a little shy, because of the so warm service that they offered. Very detail explanations, when I asked about the food. Service personnel are filled with good knowledge of the food that is serve in the restaurant.

Food, we had tomato soup for the start, the tomato soup is very refreshing, sweet and perfectly blended! Ordered their signature suckling pig, trued to its reviews, really crispy skin, I can even hear myself munching away on the skin, and tender pork meat... its really a wonder, mum was enjoying herself, eating 2 of the 5 pieces served! Next was a sea bass, fresh fish , with NO fishy smell, and nice tomato salsa, served with fennel that taste wonderfully matched , eaten with the sea bass together. We ordered the Cassoulet too... there is duck, mutton and a few other meat in there, perfectly done, my favourite dish of all. We got 2 sides to go along too, the roasted vegetables, smell and taste just so good, with zucchini, capsicum, egg plant, the other side was cheese macaroni, seriously nothing can ever go wrong with cheese added! HA HA by the time we finish all these food, we were so full~ So we ordered 2 tarts to take away, the chocolate tart and the lemon tart. Let me say, you must really order their chocolate tart, its like ooo wooo WOW! If you are a true blue chocolate lover, this tart is a must order.. Well for the lemon tart , I found it too sweet, but still its not too bad.

They serve white wine, red wine, cocktails, and other drinks too!
Perfectly ideal for a good chill-out sessions with friends and family, pretty ideal for couples too, with their cosy ambience's ! Faster make a reservation now with them! On weekends its definitely full house, seating capacity is not a lot, small restaurant. So most advisable to do your booking with them early!

Food - LIME Restuarant buffet

Had a sudden craving for some buffet spread. Picked Lime restaurant @ Pickering road as my choice for today. Set in a really good location around the central of Singapore. One thing I can say is that the restaurant , has a really good homely ambience's , which I loved it. Everything is just so comfortable, the chairs, the spacious area, for us to move around. Good place to sit have a drink and chilled.

Let's get down to the food, I can say, there are other buffets that are more worth it out there, having eaten so many buffets in town, the food at Lime was rather disappointing. Nothing special that I could remember. Cold side, the salads, are mostly a remake of other hotels, selection of cheese was rather blah, 1 emmental and the other 3 is blue cheese. western and Chinese selection has got really nothing. The lamb craving was rather bland, with no herbs seasoning and no salt, pepper. It's tender, but to the extend of being mashy. The pastry side, their special lime marshmallow was badly doned, so sweet and no taste of lime, selections at the pastry side was very minimal. Only 2 choice for the ice- cream with no topping. For 58++ , not worth it at all.

Service, is really good and attentive, maybe it was a weekday dinner, so it is not busy. And then we have all the attention of the service staff to our tables. But billing was rather slow, took a long time before I received my bill and to signed my bill.

Lastly, except for the good ambience's setting, I definitely won't recommend this buffet.
And of course, I wont be back here. But if for the drinks maybe....

Beauty - Aromatherapy massage @ Green Sanctuary Thebodyshop

Oh ment ! Every part of my body aches, because of my work. From my shoulders all the way down to my foot. Been searching around on where to get a decent massage.

Saw Green Sanctuary , from thebodyshop. Thus decided to give it  try. I picked the aromatherapy massage 60 mins @ $85. I am a bodyshop member , I have a $25 voucher rebate. So I only paid $60. Which is quite a good deal from me. Hmm and I think if you are a bodyshop member, there will be some discount on the treatments.

My experience~ My therapist, was a middle age lady. I would say she was really friendly, and warm. I didn't remember her name though. The room is very relaxing filled with aromatherapy scent... I just slept pretty much for that 1 hour, its just so so so relaxing. Her skills I could say was quite good. She focus more on my shoulders, which I am so thankful for. Another thing I like about here, is there is NO hard selling! Oh ment, do you know I dread those beauty place with all those hard selling tactics, just cant stand it! But at Green Sanctuary, there wasn't any , which is good! After the massage, my therapist even proceeded to get a warm towel, to wipe off the aromatherapy oil, as she said some people may not like the sticky feelings. Very thoughtful indeed! Haha, was thinking why 1 hour passed so fast, hoping that it was longer. Well overall, I am pretty pleased with the service at the Green Sanctuary.Worth to give that a try! I am bringing my mum and friends there too!

There is a number of treatments, like massage, facial and scrub~~ So what are you waiting for, faster call now and make a appointment!

Beauty - Some ways to rid dandraff

Natural Remedies to get rid of Dandraff...

some information I found on the web..

Tea tree oil:

what gives tea tree oil its dandruff fighting ability is its antifungal properties. It gets rid of the yeast which is known to cause dandruff. The oil appears to be effective and well tolerated in the treatment of dandruff. Massage tea tree oil into scalp after washing and drying your hair. Another way is to add a few drops to your daily shampoo.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

To rinse scalp with a 1-to-1 mix of apple cider vinegar to water.

There are many other ways to get rid of dandruff in a natural way, take your time and search through the web, to get ideas and methods. To find the best methods suitable for you, as everybody is different.

Well, for now my beauty regime... I shall not coloured my hair anymore, as it makes my scalp so much more sensitive and produced dandruff.. And I shall try out this two ways, to see if it really works!! All the best to be and people out there with this dandruff problem!!!

Both are proven to reduce dandruff overtime...

Maybe people who faces this problem can try this out. Better then go to the expensive saloons to do their expensive treatments.

Beauty - Hair -JeanYip Saloon

Hey Peeps!  Well it have been some times since I blog , pretty busy these days. But now I am back with more updates, recommendations and experiences!

Today I shall blog about my trip to Jean Yip Saloon at Bugis Junctiom!

Totally horrible experience. Don't recommend to step into that particular saloon.
Reasons based on my experience ....

1. Hard sell
2. Washing of hair without warm water
3. No credit card transaction during payment
4. Stylist was very rough with my poor hair
5. Not a friendly relax environment
6. Bad skills in cutting of hair, I seriously don't like it.

Well, here my story goes... My hair is already super out of shape, I have had short locks... as you know for short locks we got to maintain always... So decided to just go to any saloon , without appointment to have a haircut. I have heard many stories about Jean Yip, (bad stories) , but well , I still went ahead and tried, wanting to proof otherwise. BUT! now I am really sure of all the bad stories that I heard from my friends are really true! $35 for haircut and wash blow is quite reasonable to me. So I was ushered to get my hair wash first, damm, with COLD water! Because my dear shampoo girl said , OH sorry today there's no hot water.. OK well fine then...
Stylist ask me what style I wanted, and then proceeded to cut my hair... seriously the few strands that he cut was so little... not exactly the style I imagined and wanted... No choice... what's cut can't be put back...
Well, this days I have been a little stress, and I changed my shampoo , so I have been experiencing a bit of itchy scalp and dandruff.. so the stylist saw and keep pestering me to take up a dandruff cleansing treatment... well at first he said, don't worry,  I will do the treatment for you later... without seeking my permission first, is only when he saw me with a reluctant face, then he ask is it OK? I say nope.. cause I still prefer my own way of getting dandruff off... Home remedies.... as dandruff may occur in a person from time to time... Well he keep pestering, even when the assistant was blowing my hair, talking so loudly.. I can feel all eyes on me in the saloon, from the customer to all the people working there. He even wanted me to do some other treatment! I kept saying no No NO! Well no wonder the saloon was pretty empty... Now I know why...
And lastly, at the payment, I wanted to used card payment, but the girl at cashier, said they cant used card payment, no reason was given. Luckily there is still $35 in my wallet... If not.... what a joke...

This will be my first and last time in that saloon! Never will go there for any treatment or services.... Will definitely not recommend any people there too. Seriously what a joke for such a big company, So desperate in hard selling, even to the extend of embarrassing the customer with her scalp condition openly for the world to know!

FOOD - PARIS BAGUETTE

P/BA

HA, the moment I saw it has landed in Singapore wisma shopping centre, I was so happy! Like finally I can just eat it in Singapore. Need not,  just have to wait when I am in Korea!

It has got a big number of outlets in Seoul, basically everywhere I walked I see one of this outlets! The outlets in Seoul, produced beautifully created full cakes a well and taste really good! yummmmsssss................. so don't forget to buy the cakes when you are in Seoul to try!

Well, so I went right down to the one located at wisma, with my mum and friends... but the pricing , I kind of feel its a little bit expensive compared to Seoul, but nevertheless its still worth going there for your tea-time break!

cakesssss

The kiwi and the orange juice, is from the fresh fruit itself. The fruit ice shaving is also worth trying, top with many fruits and the yogurt is also awesome, a must try!

Lastly! The few choices of salads, made freshly by the wonderful chefs!

Penang! Is a city in Malaysia...
Just went there once, and I really loved it !

Its a place filled with beautiful seas, great variety of food and friendly people.
Penang, one thing not to missed, is the awesome food that they have there..
My favourite is the Penang Laksa, never had it so good before, until I tasted it in Penang.
And remember to buy lots of tau sau piah back!
The hotel, that we stayed is 4 star, " Evergreen Laurel Hotel" Located at a really convenient location, gurney drive, down the streets is filled with shopping centre and many many yummilious foodies..
Do check out Penang Hill, great place to have some good fresh air, with a breathe-taking scenery! Another good place to check it out, is the Pernarakan Museum.
Airasia flies there everyday, at a low price, do book earlier to get a cheaper ticket!

LIFE - ARMY

Every Singaporean son.. Sounds familiar? Guess to all Singaporean, it is!

Today 13 march 2013 , was the day that I went together to send my friend brother off to army , off the shores of Singapore , Pulau Tekong , BMTC.... That's the military school to train the recruits.
Its my first time there, as I have never send any boys off to army before. I would say its a eye-opener scene. We were shown a small portion of the base, the recruits bunk room and witness them taking the oath , also we get to try the food, ha ha , so called food tasting and were allowed to take pictures.

the army food, that we taste! yes its nothing fancy or nice to shout about! But I can say it is very healthy with little salt added, it is what I guess suitable for the boys in army. Don't know if I was too hungry , I finish the whole plate of food.

The view of the BMTC from a distance at Pulau Tekong.

we were allowed to take photso with him, he is wearing the full set of what they should be wearing! So cool!

Had a very interesting and a tired day! But it was a great feeling sending a boy to army! Feeling a little sad, but excited for my friend brother. Although it may be heart-wrenching for some parents, but it is really the start of a great future and training for the boys!

Recently went and watch the movie 'Ah boys to men" , it has given us a really good view of what army seem like, what our brothers, fathers, sons, friends or boyfriends are or have went through in the army. This movie has also given us a good laugh! Those who have not catch this movie, get the DVDs and watch it! You will not regret it!

Proud of the boys of Singapore!

Well, if you have the time, its rather a good idea to go down and visit the supermarket in Seoul! Filled with many fresh items to seek out!, Strawberries, persimmon, orange, pears! And if you are staying in a apartment with a kitchen, it will be so nice to buy some food back to your apartment and whipped up a good dinner! Their salad are so fresh! Trust me , you will be amazed... I always visit the Lotte Supermarket at Seoul station, its just above the station! There are any small supermarkets around Seoul, depending on the location you are staying though~~

Korea - Theme Cafes

WOOF Woof woof woof......meow meow meow

There are many may, themes cafes in Korea , Seoul, which in Singapore we don't have ...
Every time when I land in Seoul I need to visit the themes café. The 2 themes café that I loved and must go is, the DOG Café and CAT Café... hmmm interesting right? At there, you just need to pay w8000 and have a cuppa of drink of your choices and you can, play with the furry friends all day long or sit at the table and have a great time catching up with your friends, planning your next destination! Awesome place to check out, if you are a animal lover! There's one dog and cat café located in" myeong-dong" and also in" hongdae" there is a dog café and two cat café. For the cat café, the cats there are well-mannered! Ha ha for the dog café, you got to be a little prepared, as dogs are more rough and rowdy, not as gentle as the cats. But no worries, after a while they will get used to you and come up to you for a cuddle.... There was once I went to a dog café at hongdae, the English cocker pee on my coat... ha ha well, the staff there are nice though, they clean my coat for me on the spot! I don't feel angry at all, as I love animals to he max, so it doesn't matter. Only visit here if you are a really 100% animal lover!!!

the staff at the café, giving the dogs treat~~~

meow meow at the cat café in hongdae~~

Animals bring joy and love to us! Cheers!!!
I LOVE DOGS & CATS!!!!!

KoReA -Seoul- NSeoul Tower

Its been sometimes... that I have updated my blog, because of , the crash of my laptop.. Just got a new Sony Vaio... Hopes its going to stay with me long.... ((:

Just came back from Korea, yes its my fifth time there, and I will blog about, a place of interest.
The N Seoul Tower, if you are a frequent Korean drama watcher, you will heard or know of this place. Its a interesting place, best for lovers! Haha, I will definitely bring my partner there. At there you can buy a lock and write the words you want to write and lock it on the tree, the keys have to be return to the people there, this way no one will be able to unlock the , 'so called love lock', well even friends can buy that too. A symbol of locking ones love or friendship... ah interesting isn't it?
Here , you can visit the teddy bear museum and go up to the highest level to have a good view of seoul. There's a restaurant here too. One thing good about coming here is the, package they have, which I found it pretty reasonable, a lunch at the restaurant, teddy bear museum and the observatory tower. which is less then W50,000...

A picture of the tower from below....

the tree full of locks!!!

How awesome! So if you are planning for a trip down to Seoul, don't forget to add this place in! Enjoy!!!

TRAVEL- Relax- Staycations

STAYCATIONS

Not needing to step a foot out of Singapore, avoiding the hassle of bringing a super big luggage or missing your love ones big time! Staycations is a ideal, short , cheaper getaway! Straight in the country or city you are living in! My interest for having staycations started last year! Instead of travelling out of Singapore, decided to planned a staycation, together with some good friends of mine! Sometimes due to different work roaster or classes , many can't find the right time to travel together, thus having a staycation right here is super ideal, they can just join or come over, when all the work or classes has ended! It's just so much more easier.Get a few friends to share the cost of the hotel, and bunk in together, but try to keep your noise level down.. There was once, we booked a small hotel, 4 star, the sound proof of the room was really a failure, even turning your volume of the television a little higher, can be heard just right outside the room, that was the worst staycation hotel ever, service was bad and the television broke down on the second day. So when choosing a hotel, be sure to choose a bigger, and a hotel with a good sound-proof system rooms!

I have stayed in a few hotel, for my staycations in Singapore
Well personally i recommend Movenpick Hotel, located in sentosa... Have got some pictures~~

The rooms, is a SUITE room! So awesome! We had booked the deluxe room, but on arrival was given a complimentary upgrade to a suite room. Service at this hotel was way beyond expected, upon reaching the hotel main entrance, we were greeted with a good welcome and smiles, and they were offering to carry our hand carried bags and shopping bags! So impressed by all of them!
Other hotels for which, i would recommend is, Shang Ri-La Singapore and the W hotel! Definitely it will be a awesome, breathe taking experience! Well guess now you can stay planing for a staycation! Log on to agoda  to book your hotels now! Enjoy your staycation people! Right now, me too, i am looking forward to my next staycation....

LIFE-LOVE- Hand-Made-Cards

Hand-made, with love... sound sweet? oh yes! To me it is! I am a big fan, a lover of making cards for people, anyone of my friends, on their or even on my special occasions! Hand- made card is the sweetest thing , that one can ever received throughout.. Diamonds, money , branded stuff cannot be compared to hand-made stuff, biggest example , cards!
Most , or i would say all that i have acknowledge them as my good friends, a hand-made card is always prepared for them, for their birthdays especially! Sometimes on Christmas, i will also do for them! Enjoying each and every process of card making... The day before , just helped with the making, of one of my good friend, card for her boyfriend! How sweet! Her first card ! That guy better hold on to his sweetest girlfriend on earth. Not many or i would say few , will waste their time to do a hand-made card! Unless if its really really someone special to them! Them, means it holds a special place in their heart! So people, if you guys have the spare time and thought, make a card for someone, be it your partner or your friends! They will be really happy! The other day , i got to know from a guy friend, what does he thinks of receiving a hand-made card from their girlfriend, he said " guys are really happy, till that they can hit the roof! ha ha , but because of their big pride and huge ego, they won't admit in front of their girlfriend, they will just go.. ooh okkk thanks...." Its the same for girls, to see their boyfriend doing a hand-made card for them! but of course we girls express our feelings upfront! So , see! Do a hand-made card for this upcoming valentine's day!

Writing about hand-made cards, reminded me about a use-to-be someone special, made two cards, one is a birthday card , the other card is with pictures... Just wondering where's the card now, hope he keeps it , though we are not in contact anymore... Not sadden by the part that it has been thrown away, just feels that my art work has gone down to the waste bin, if that's is so.. Oh well , at least there's still many people whom, i am sure kept my hand-made card nicely and preciously! That's good enough to make me smile!

Examples of some scrappy materials~~~~~

BEAUTY- KIZUKI+LIM Saloon

How many of you agreed that having a good hair-stylist is important?
For me i totally agreed, i have always been going to different hair saloon, to get my hair cut, coloured and washed. But i couldn't find one that can satisfied me . Last few days i went on the Internet looking for a good saloon which i can try, ( i wanna cut my hair) chanced upon KIZUKI+Lim , made my appointment the day before at 10 am the following day, for a stylist , they have 4 choice of stylist for the haircut. Different price too. So i booked the stylist at $80, a level above junior stylist . Was introduced to my stylist Wakamatsu Yusuke san ,he was really polite, looked at and touch my hair, then he suggested whatstyle to cut, but he cant really speak English, so he draw out the picture for me, really interesting! He suggested shaving my side off , so when i tug my hair behind my ear, people can see the shave off part, but too bad i wasn't gamed for that, ha ha... i am not that punk, although i have crazy bleach coloured pattern on my hair. Waka san then led me to the hair washing area, nice ,special chairs at the washing area, really wow! Hair wash was by him personally, gentle and relaxing, good massage, but it will be great if its longer, but hey i am here for a haircut right not a head massage. After which he proceed to cut my hair, waka san was really tactful, gentle in handling my hair, he change the parting of my hair too, and it turns out really well. Now i know why people on the Internet say that, they really can cut and style your hair to suit your face, because today waka san did it! Overall was a good and worth the price experience. The only part uncomfortable is the awkward moment when i walk in, maybe its my first time in a jap saloon and having my hair cut by a jap stylist! I am in awe , and i will be back to do my hair again.. thinking to change my hair colour soon..

Korea Seoul (black smith) part 2

Blacksmith  Korea Seoul , Gangnam
It was totally a chance upon encounter , in the chilly spring weather in Seoul..

Roaming around the streets , feeling hungry. And also for a change , wanted to try some other food , other then kimchi..
The restaurant design was rather sophisticated, classy. The managers and service staff also seem really professional. The restaurant that i went to, has got wifi too. The people there was also able to converse in English. Was a open kitchen , saw the chefs working around the pizza oven.
Consider going to this restaurant Black Smith when you are in Korea , Seoul! Don't forget to try their pizzas too.. I found the price reasonable too. Not that cheap and not over the top.

Some foodies photos I took while dining there~

TRAVEL - Korea (Seoul) Part 1

Hello.. Oh great! my first virgin post...
Today's topic shall be on TRAVEL.. ( Korea Seoul)

Been to Korea for four times in two years, so guess its time I shall shared,  my whole travel experience with you guys. I will touched on places to visit for shopping, food and of course many other great experience slowly....

Firstly, getting to Korea Seoul by airplane, I have taken the Korea Air and Singapore Airlines , flight time about 7 hours or so.. Both airlines has got great service and comfortable seating and good movies to keep me, out of boredom. Korea Air has got bimbibap ( Korean mixed rice) which I so love it.. Air ticket price varies from time to time. Look out for promotion from Singapore Airlines, it can be as cheap as $700 sing! Which its a really good price. Because normally my air ticket price is around 1k sing. Oh and don't forget to get insurance for your travel!

The seasons that I went was twice in winters, once in spring and once in autumn.. ( I love the cold weather that Singapore doesn't have, so I don't plan to go in summer.. )

Seoul Incheon international airport is a real beauty! World-class airport!

Once I stayed in a hostel, called A travelers,  which I totally don't recommend because of  the bad location of the hostel and the price is not as cheap as I thought it was.. Therefore the next three times that I went, I have decided to stay in hotels.. Be it 3 or 4 stars. Its clean , suited in a good location and reasonable pricing.. Unless you really find yourself a good hostel, if not staying in a 3 or 4 star hotel in Seoul is equally cheap and great experience as in a hostel.

Hotels - Sinchon at noon (3 star)
           - Acacia Hotel (4star)
           - Nox Boutique (3star)
These are the hotels that I have stayed before.

Shopping is a must in Korea.. Be it clothes , bags or skincare!
Basically everywhere you can find something to buy.
women wear , wholesales, Dongnaemun. If you are looking for gifts to bring back, packed in bulk, or wholesales stuff check out,  Namdaemun... Best is to also stock up on your skincare, from face shop , skin food, nature republic and other major brands . Its so much cheaper to get it in Korea then in Singapore, as cheap, as less then 50% then you get it in Singapore! Trust me , you will go crazy shopping in Korea for their home brand skincare!

Food, of course when you are there! Kimchi, ginsheng chicken soup, bimbibap, Korean BBQ and the list goes on! Cheap food , great finds!
There's a Korean BBQ buffet with plenty of meats located at Sinchon area, only 8000₩! Street food is also, a must to try . I even went to a western dining restaurant to taste what's it like in Seoul. But the price is a little bit expensive , well you are on a holiday, so it is good to be able to try all kinds of food available there!

Everything about Korea , is worth coming for and going back to! Never a day bored or wrong when you are in Korea! Trust me!!

End of part 1.... To be continued.... With more photos and places and experience!
